Senior players will also have their say though when it comes to setting guidelines around their camp in Repino, near St Petersburg.
Southgate has recently suggested that the Italian way of giving the armband to the player with the most caps is a good way of choosing a skipper.
That would put Joe Hart, with his 75 caps, in pole position to be England captain.

However the Manchester City and West Ham keeper’s role in the England sqaud has been called into question recently.
With Stoke’s Jack Butland, Everton’s Jordan Pickford and Burnley’s Nick Pope all performing impressively at club level, the veteran keeper’s time as an England starter – and his potential to be captain – may be coming to an end.
