Swedish kingpin will only return for international duty in Russia this summer if he ‘feels well’
ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC has told Sweden he will only come out of international retirement and play in the World Cup if he “feels well”.
Ibrahimovic, aged 36, recently left Manchester United for LA Galaxy having failed to nail a return to the United first team following last year’s cruciate ligament surgery.
The striker hung up his Swedish boots after Euro 2016 with 62 goals in 116 games to become his country’s all-time top scorer.
Sweden made the World Cup finals after finishing second in their qualifying group behind France.
Ibrahimovic, constantly linked with a return to the international scene, could well be there with them.
He the official MLS website: “If I feel well, capable of giving what I can, the door will always be open.
“If I want to I’ll be there, if not no.
“I want to play football, we’ll see what happens.
“They call me every day, they ask me how am I doing, but we need to take a step at a time.
“I repeat if I feel well and if I want to, I’ll be there.”
Ibrahimovic fired 26 goals for United last season in 39 outings following a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
